LAS VEGAS – Nick Smith Jr. totaled 24 points to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 94-90 win over the New York Knicks in the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas on Saturday at Thomas and Mack Center.
The Hornets jumped out to a great start and took a 23-12 lead after one quarter. The Knicks picked up their play in the second, managing to cut it to a seven-point difference at the break. Both sides came out strong in the third, but the Hornets maintained control and held on to a four-point advantage heading into the final frame. The Hornets pushed their lead back up to seven midway through the fourth and held off the Knicks in the final minutes to secure the win.
Smith Jr. shot 9-for-17 from the field and added five rebounds, four assists and a steal to his team-high scoring effort to lead the Hornets. Brandon Miller followed up with 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists, while Zavier Simpson logged 15 points, three rebounds, 10 assists and a block.
Duane Washington Jr. led the Knicks with 26 points, three rebounds and a steal in 31 minutes. Jacob Toppin followed up with 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and a block, while Dmytro Skapintsev chipped in nine points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block.
Both teams will play their next Summer League game Tuesday. The Knicks will face the Nets, while the Hornets will take on the Nuggets.
