First Four, day two

  • (16) Prairie View A&M vs. (16) Lehigh – 6:40pm E.T. – truTV
  • (11) Miami (OH) vs.  (11) SMU – 9:15pm E.T. – truTV

The winner of the Prairie View A&M and Lehigh game will go on to face Florida, the No. 1 seed in the South region. The winner of Miami (OH) and SMU will play Tennessee, the No. 6 seed in the Midwest.

Longhorns survive late scare

NC State was game and fought until the last shot, but Tramon Mark sank a historic jumper to send Texas through the First Four and into the tourney proper.

The Longhorns survive a dramatic charge from NC State to emerge from the First Four. Tramon Mark hit the key jump shot with 1.1 seconds left to lift Texas to a 68-66 win. Texas will move on to face No. 6 seed BYU in the West.

We’ve got a close one

The Texas Longhorns and NC State Wolfpack are locked in a taut defensive struggle in the second First Four game of Tuesday night. Texas goes into halftime with a 30-29 lead, and the winner will go on to face No. 6 seed BYU.

Anatomy of a win

Bryce Harris hit a shot that Howard fans will remember forever. Harris scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Howard’s first NCAA tourney win, and his clutch shot with 13 seconds remaining gave the Bison the edge it needed to defeat UMBC.

Howard had a chance to ice the game at the line, but UMBC rebounded and had an opportunity for a game-tying shot as time expired.

Howard Bison move on to face No. 1 Michigan

The UMBC Retrievers never made it easy, but Howard earned an 86-83 First Four win Tuesday fueled by a game-high 23 points from Ose Okojie. No. 16 seed Howard, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season and tourney champs, will progress to face the top-seeded Michigan Wolverines in the Midwest bracket.
