Niang, initially routed from Atlanta to Boston in the Kristaps Porziņģis trade, was traded to Utah as the Celtics continued maneuvering against the luxury tax. Niang, who played for the Jazz from 2017-21 and was a fan favorite with the team, provides a veteran presence as Utah continues its rebuild.
Last season, he averaged a career-high 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 40.6% on 5.2 3-point attempts per game in 79 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks.
