The Dallas Mavericks have been home to some of the most talented players the NBA has ever seen. Here, we take a look at all the players who earned All-NBA First Team honors while playing for the Mavericks.


Luka Dončić – 5 times (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024)

The Slovenian guard was chosen with the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks, who traded him on draft night for Trae Young. He had an outstanding career as a member of the Mavericks, earning the Rookie of the Year Award in his first year in The Association and then being named to the All-NBA 1st-Team in each of the following five seasons.

Dončić also finished in the Top 8 in MVP voting in those five seasons with Dallas, having had the best season of his career in 2023-24 averaging a league-high 33.9 points per game. His tenure in Dallas ended unexpectedly when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers near the 2025 trade deadline in exchange for Anthony Davis.

Dončić averaged 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game across 422 regular-season games with the Mavericks.

Dirk Nowitzki – 4 times (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009)

The Mavericks have had many outstanding players over the years, But Nowitzki’s impact, both in Dallas and around the world, stands in a league of its own. The German sharpshooter became a franchise icon and was the first Mavericks player to be named to the All-NBA 1st-Team. It happened in the 2004-05 season where he averaged 26.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, while ending third in the MVP voting.

Nowitzki also ended third in the MVP race in 2005-06, but he finally won the award in the 2006-07 campaign after averaging 24.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 41.6 percent from 3-point range. Nowitzki would earn one more All-NBA1st-Team nod in his career during the 2008-09 campaign.

Once it was all said and done, Nowitzki earned 14 All-Star appearances, 12 All-NBA nods, and won the title in the 2010-11 season over the Miami Heat of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Nowitzki spent his entire career with the Mavericks and averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 38 percent from 3-point range in 1,522 regular-season contests.
