Overview
Brazile spent three years in college, but the 6-foot-9 forward didn’t blossom until his final year at Arkansas. He was a freshman at Missouri, but he transferred following a freshman year in which he made 23 starts, averaging 6.6 points and 5.1 rebounds across 21.5 minutes per game in 25 appearances. Brazile was a reserve in his first season with Arkansas and was limited to just nine appearances (no starts) before tearing his ACL in December 2022. He returned for the 2023-24 campaign and was impressive, making 23 starts of 26 appearances and averaging 25.7 mpg. Last season, he averaged 8.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 1.2 bpg before declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft.
Analysis
Brazile has an intriguing combination of size, bounce and floor-spacing ability, but there’s no question that the ACL injury he suffered in 2022 conspired against his development a great deal. He managed to get his rhythm back and showed during the 2023-24 college season that he has the tools to be a potential first-round pick. His athleticism remains there despite the serious injury. He doesn’t rely solely on his physical traits to impact the game as he’s an accomplished 3-point shooter who should translate that to the NBA due to his floor-spacing ability. As good as he can be on offense, however, he struggles on the defense and can coast on that end of the floor. How much he can improve defensively could ultimately impact his Draft position and NBA career outlook.
Projection
Brazile is a proven threat on offense but needs to shape up his defense. He could have a career similar to Caris LeVert, who doesn’t do much defensively but has managed to make a living from his offensive ability as a starter or reserve. Brazile is slightly more athletic than LeVert, though. Either way, if he doesn’t improve on defense, he’s not expected to project as anything more than an NBA role player.
