Overview
Bobi Klintman spent his lone collegiate season at Wake Forest, where he appeared in 33 games (five starts) and posted averages of 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 20.5 minutes per game. Klintman shot 40.7 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three on 2.3 attempts per contest. The native of Sweden scored in double figures in his first college appearance, registering 11 points and six boards in a win over Fairfield on Nov. 7. In a victory over South Carolina State on Nov. 23, Klintman went for 15 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes. He scored a season-high 17 points, while chipping in 11 boards, in the Demon Deacons’ win over Syracuse in the ACC Conference Tournament on March 8. One day later, in a matchup against Miami, Klintman grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots in 31 minutes. Prior to arriving at Wake Forest, Klintman represented Sweden at the 2022 FIBA U20 European Championship.
Analysis
While Klintman wasn’t asked to be a high-volume scorer at Wake Forest, he displayed plenty of confidence as a three-point shooter, as well as a shot-creator on the ball. At 6-foot-10 with a rangy wingspan, Klintman has prototypical NBA size and should eventually be able to slide between forward and small-ball center. Klintman is a good decision-maker who moves well off the ball, and he’s a willing passer for his size with above-average vision. He may not be an instant-impact player at the NBA level, but Klintman has the makings of a productive 3-and-D big man down the road.
Projection
Currently projected as a mid-to-late-first-round pick who could work his way into the late-lottery discussion, Klintman is lauded for his combination of size, shooting and versatile defense. Those factors could propel him into the rotation for the right team, but it’s possible he could use 2023-24 as more of a developmental season. Longer-term, Klintman could project as a high-end role player who defends at a high level, knocks down catch-and-shoot threes and distributes in the halfcourt. Klintman’s game contains shades of Nicolas Batum, Christian Wood, and Rui Hachimura.
